QIWI payment system

QIWI is a virtual payment service that allows you to carry out all types of financial transactions. The payment has its own banking equipment, which is installed in public places. Using self-service terminals, QIWI customers can replenish e-wallets and make money transfers.
The user can enter his personal account at any time of the day: the service works 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Accounts can be managed from any country in the world.
QIWI operates not only in the Russian Federation. The payment serves residents of the countries of the near and far abroad (19 countries in total).

How the payment was created

Today QIWI is one of the most popular EPS. Few services can compete with it. But it was not always so. The payment has experienced ups and downs, it has transformed and changed its appearance.
The history of the company began in 1999 with the production of scratch cards, which are used to fund mobile phone accounts. The firm was organized by B. Kim. He named his company E-port. A little later, the employees of the enterprise developed a new method of crediting funds to a cell phone number. Subscribers had to purchase a special voucher, after which a message with a password for activation was sent to their mobile phone. The money was credited to the account after entering the code. E-port signed an agreement with many telecom operators, in whose salons the vouchers were sold.

But this option of replenishing the phone was not very convenient, because transferring funds directly through the operator is much easier and more reliable. And telecom operators did not really want to change the system of their work and adapt to the newly-minted entrepreneurs.
In 2004, another team of enterprising young people led by Andrey Romanenko organized their own firm called the United System of Instant Payments (OSMP). The company specialized in the installation and maintenance of banking equipment - terminals and ATMs.
In the summer of 2009, both teams - OSMP and E-port merged into one holding - OE Investments Limited. This holding had such divisions as QIWI Advertising (this department was engaged in advertising) and QIWI Wallet (virtual payment service). It was during this period that the QIWI brand was created. Today QIWI is heard by almost all users of the World Wide Web. But in order to promote the brand and win the general love of the public, the founders of the holding had to pay a lot of money - 300 thousand American money. The third part of this amount went to create the "face" of the company and develop its style. 200 thousand dollars were spent on purchasing new equipment and improving technical equipment, creating a more convenient interface, installing modern terminals and so on. Now it is a universal payment system. Almost all financial transactions are available to users of the payment: • payment for the services of utilities; • repayment of debts on loans; • payment of fines and taxes; • payment for goods purchased in virtual stores; • transferring money to friends and partners, etc.

More than 50 thousand users visit the service during the day. About a thousand new accounts are opened here every day.

The main features of the QIWI service

QIWI is a feature-rich and secure service with many competitive advantages.
1. Almost all financial transactions are carried out free of charge. Payments are made at a high speed: money is transferred to the recipients accounts within 1-2 seconds.
2. E-wallets can be replenished in any possible way. If necessary, the account can be synchronized with wallets registered in other electronic services.
3. The system is equipped with a simple and intuitive interface, which can be understood by people with little experience in the Internet.
4. You can manage your account both from a stationary and from a laptop (tablet or smartphone). Special applications for mobile devices allow you to make payments anytime, anywhere.
5. You can work with the service even if there is no Internet connection. To transfer money to partners or pay for services, the client can use the SMS-banking service.
6. A simple registration procedure does not take much time. There are several ways to register an account. There are no rules or requirements for registration and login.
7. Personal and payment information is encrypted with a special program and transmitted over secure channels. Multi-stage authorization system prevents unauthorized entry into the user account.
8. Account holders can view the history of transactions and track the movement of money at any time.
9. QIWI issues plastic and electronic payment cards.
There are some shortcomings in the work of the payment service. However, there are very few of them. These are minor flaws that do not spoil the overall impression of the electronic system at all.
1. There are problems in the work of SMS-banking.
2. The choice of the method of receiving cash from e-wallets is very limited.
3. Only intra-system transactions are free. When withdrawing money from an e-wallet to a bank account or sending a transfer to another EPS, the client will pay a commission.
4. Users often receive advertising messages from other customers of the payment system.
How to register an account in the QIWI payment system?

To register an e-wallet in the QIWI system, you need to go to the official website of the company and go through a simple registration procedure.

Registration procedure

In the special field, enter your cell phone number and press the "Create wallet" button. At the next stage, you will receive an SMS with a code and enter your password. Now you are a full QIWI client: the wallet is registered. To start using your account, you need to fund it.

Replenishment of an electronic account

Money can be transferred from a card account, through self-service terminals or from an account on a mobile phone.
1. You can replenish your e-wallet in cash through QIWI self-service terminals, at the Leader, Contact, Rapida payment acceptance points in Euroset salons and others.
2. To replenish your account using a bank card, you must link a payment document to your account. Payments are accepted from MasterCard, VISA cards. Funds can also be sent through the online banking service of a financial institution that has a partnership with the QIWI system.
3. You can also transfer money to an e-account from your cell phone balance. The operation is carried out in virtual mode.
4. You can replenish your wallet with a regular money transfer from a branch of any bank or through remote services.

Identifying wallets

Identification is the verification of the data received about the client. The procedure is necessary to upgrade the status of an e-account. Upon registration, the e-wallet receives the “anonymous” status. The possibilities of such a wallet are somewhat limited. Therefore, the administration recommends to go through the identification procedure and increase the level of the account.
What does identification give?
• Increasing the monthly payment limit;
• increase in the limit for the storage of funds;
• the ability to send money to accounts registered in banks or other electronic services;
• the ability to make purchases in virtual stores registered in other countries.
There are two types of identification: full procedure and simplified.
Russian citizens can go through a simplified identification procedure online (on the official website of the company, through an application for mobile phones) or through branded terminals. You can also contact the call center of the QIWI payment system. The client must provide the following information:
• surname, name, patronymic;
• passport details;
• year and birthday;
• identification code.
Clients who are not citizens of the Russian Federation are identified at the "Contact" payment acceptance points or at the QIWI office.
The data must be confirmed by documents:
• civil passport;
• notarized translation of the passport.
To go through the full identification procedure, the client must personally contact the companys office. This can be done through the points of the "Contact" system, in the salons of "Euroset" or by calling a courier at home.
Russian citizens provide a passport. Citizens of other countries must have a passport, a migration card, a permit to stay in the Russian Federation, a residence permit and a translation of documents into Russian certified by a notary.

Features of e-wallets

There are 3 types of e-accounts in the system: anonymous, standard, maximum.
1. The "anonymous" status has rather limited capabilities. This status is assigned to all wallets automatically. No identification is required here. The account can hold no more than 15 thousand rubles. The total amount of expense transactions is 40 thousand rubles / month. You can withdraw cash no more than 5 thousand / day and no more than 40 thousand / month.
2. "Standard" suggests more possibilities than "anonymous". To obtain this status, it is enough to go through a simplified identification procedure. The account can store up to 60 thousand rubles. It is allowed to spend up to 200 thousand rubles per month. As for the withdrawal of cash, here, as in the "anonymous", you can get no more than 5 thousand per day.
3. To obtain the “maximum” status, you must go through the full identification procedure. This wallet allows you to carry out transactions without any amount limits. The account can store up to 600 thousand rubles. A client can receive cash up to 200 thousand rubles per month. The amount can be withdrawn in parts or at a time.

Payment system users can apply for a prepaid virtual card. This payment document is used to make payments on the World Wide Web.
The card can be ordered on the official website of QIWI. To apply, you need to press the "Buy a card" button and enter your cell phone number, as well as the amount that will be deposited on the card account (at least 300 rubles or 10 dollars). A message will be sent to the mobile phone, the body of which will contain information about the card. The document is valid for 60 days from the date of registration.
For the production of the card, you must pay a commission fee - 2.5% of the declared amount. The account can hold up to 70 thousand rubles (1 thousand dollars). When calculating using a virtual document, the client does not pay commission for the operations performed. The service of SMS-notifications can be connected to the card. The cost of the service is 19 rubles / month.

Reliability and safety

QIWI developers have paid a lot of attention to security and fraud protection system.
The system thoroughly analyzes all transactions and monitors the actions of payment order clients. This allows you to find scammers and prevent theft.
The server has a well-developed network infrastructure. Special services protect accounts from DDoS attacks, check accounts for viruses, analyze system operation, check the degree of its vulnerability, and more.
Clients personal information is kept in the strictest confidence. The login information is known only to the account owner. All information is encrypted and transmitted over secure channels (TLS 1.2 protocol using 128-bit encryption). If the system detects that the password by which the client enters his account has been decrypted by third parties, the server administration will offer to change the login information.
The site is equipped with the latest anti-fraudulent system. The principle of operation is to automatically determine the behavior patterns for each of the clients. For example, connection parameters, IP address, time of payment transactions, identification of browsers and computers, change of password and security settings, etc.
The user can independently view the history of transactions and control the movement of funds. Upon noticing unauthorized transactions, the client notifies the support service. Next, the security service takes over, which will identify fraudsters and prevent their actions.
After examining information about users and analyzing their requests, payment officers can build an effective protection strategy and ensure the financial security of customers.
